Yoga for You - 8

Salabhasana (Locust Pose)

Specific for ladies problems, cures sleeplessness. Reduces obesity. Acts on Chest, abdomen, rectum, and extremities.

Method:
Lie on your stomach with your chin resting on the ground and soles pointing upwards. Keep your arms straight along the body, palm facing upwards with fingers clenched. Inhale slowly. Raise the legs, the hips and the lower abdomen up in one straight line, putting the whole weight of the body on your chest and hands. Remain in the pose for ten seconds in the beginning and prolong the time as long as you can retain the breath. Lower your legs slowly, relax all the muscles and exhale. REpeat the process four to five times according to your capacity.

Benefits:
It helps obese people. Alleviated insomnia, bronchitis, and tones up the liver, pancreas, kidneys and the abdominal muscles. It strengthens the thighs, hands and the legs. This asana relieves lumbago, rheumatism, arthritis, cervical, spondylosis , back pain and menstural problems.

Caution:
People with Hernia should not perform this asana. Pregnant women should also avoid this exercise.
